DESIGN FOR MUSIC

Monique Bingham

Design and illustration of a record sleeve, digital campaign and promotion with lyrics for a house music artist called Monique Bingham. Her music is soulful which I wanted to convey in my design. The song I chose from her album was called “Kissing Strangers”, my inspiration was from the lyrics of this song. I used one of our six senses ‘smell’ and infused the record sleeves I created with the fragrance of spices.

TALK ABOUT THE CONNECTION TO MY DANCE WITH DESIGN FOR MUSIC

I have been dancing since I was three. I have come across so much house music and so many house dancers at the club scene not only in London but also in Europe since coming to the UK in 2015 and it was a massive inspiration to me at the start of my graphic design education. I found the way of approaching commercial designs for the music industry is very similar to  creating dance movements to the music.

My project considering Monique Bingham required me to create various bespoke design objects. This inspired me to create and design a limited selection of t-shirts which I have actually since sold many of.
