BLACKPOOL TYPO
In conjunction with developing this project ‘SENSING PLACE’, I developed a typographic experience book which gave me ideas how I was to approach my project.
Firstly, to interpret thetexture of Blackpool from my photography such as cracks and peeling walls (that express a reflection of the place of my first impact and emotions), the most striking images were selected and transformed into a collage. After that, I made typographic material with miscellaneous objects of Blackpool and Clacton on sea.
I was inspired by the Typo Polo exhibition, which refers to Polish lettering of the 1950s. This lettering was produced on a local scale by non-professionaI producers for small businesses. I would imagine that lettering in Blackpool and Clacton in the 1950s reflect this precedent. The research process of the exhibitors is similar to my photographic exploration. Therefore, I tried to make Blackpool typo like Typo Polo.
